Prior to undertaking the Practical Assessment, please ensure you have all the equipment on the 'Required Equipment List'. This list is available online and also appears in the Candidate Manual. At the Practical Assessment you will be required to acknowledge that you have read the Candidate Manual, and you must present with all the required equipment.
During the Practical Assessment, an Assessor will evaluate your ability to identify underground assets/utilities by safely performing locating procedures to accepted industry standards.
The Practical Assessment will be conducted by an Assessor at a selected field location. Once the location date and time have been agreed, if you don’t proceed with the assessment, cancellation fees may apply (refer to terms and conditions).
If you successfully complete your Practical Assessment, you will be recognised as a CERTLOC Certified Locator. You will receive a CERTLOC Certified Locator Certificate, which confirms you have successfully completed the Certified Locator Program.
Not all locators meet the required standards on their first attempt at the Practical Assessment. We work closely with them to support reassessment with the goal of achieving certification (there is a minimum one month waiting period).
